The individual rail projects comprise the Doha Metro, a mostly underground rail network which connects communities within Doha and its suburbs, the Lusail Light Rail Transit (LLRT), a tram network providing comfortable and convenient travel within the new city of Lusail in Qatar, and the Long Distance Passenger and Freight Rail connecting cities in the north and west with Doha, and the country with the forthcoming GCC rail system.
Qatargas provides all of its employees with either good quality rent-free accommodation in Al Khor or Doha, or a housing allowance.
The Al Khor housing complex is located at the northern end of Al Khor and is about thirty minutes drive from Ras Laffan Industrial City.
The community consists of villas and family houses. The villas are single story houses with their own private courtyard garden and garage.
The family houses are two storey apartment blocks with three bedrooms in each apartment, common gardens and designated parking space. There are four houses in each block.
Qatar Rail’s Long Distance Passenger and Freight Rail project envisages development of a long distance passenger and freight rail network to connect major population centres and Qatari industries and to form part of the planned Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway network linking the six countries of the region (the State of Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, State of Kuwait, Kingdom of Bahrain, and Sultanate of Oman). The network will be executed over four phases. There will be five main lines.
